MegaTrends Seminar, one of the highlights of the Conference, was expected by suppliers, managers and users of geospatial information. Held on June 18, just after the official opening of the Conference, with lectures by experts from Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, Canada and US, the seminar demonstrated what will become reality in the next years, discussing current topics with the public on-site and online, such as the Rural Environmental Cadaster (CAR). To present this new instrument of environmental regulation in Brazil, the conference brought Paulo Guilherme Cabral, representative of the Ministry of Environment.

“This is a very important event, that allows us to talk and learn about technologies, companies and professionals who are at the end of the process of services and technological resources delivery, which are capable of identifying and imaging rural areas in Brazil,” said Paulo Guilherme, Secretary of Extraction and Sustainable Rural Development in the Ministry of Environment.

The Mega Trends Seminar was also attended by leaders in the international geospatial industry, such as the Intergeo; the German Association of Geodesy, Geoinformation and Land Management, GeoSUR; Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), Permanent Committee for Geospatial Data Infrastructure of the Americas (CP-IDEA), Lincoln Institute of Land Policy and the Global Spatial Data Infrastructure (GSDI).

“I like MundoGEO event very much and also its publications, doing a very good job bringing together the local and the global community, said Peter Grougnard, CEO of Septentrio. “We have seen market trends that we don’t see in Europe. Brazil, from geographical and geophisical reasons has needs that we also don’t see in Europe, such as atmospheric measurements. We’ve been lucky to work with Brazillian partners to develop solutions for intense atmospheric ativity, such as Sao Paulo University. For me, being here this week is all about strengthening the network and starting new contacts and business relations”, affirmed  Grougnard.
