MundoGEO#Connect 2012 should gather more than 10.000 professionals

Meeting of the geo-technology sector will be held in São Paulo from May 29 to May 31

The place and the date for MundoGEO#Connect 2012 are already defined. The spot for the meeting of the geo-spatial industry will be in São Paulo – the main city of Latin America – more specifically at Frei Caneca Convention Center, from May 29 to May 31, 2012, and it will join a fair with the main companies of the sector along with a courses and seminars programming into interactive format.

The event is an accomplishment of MundoGEO, and it counts on several supporters which are already confirmed, such as the City hall of São Paulo and Embrapa Monitoring for Satellite. Carrying the theme “Sharing information for a better world”, MundoGEO#Connect 2012 will point out the current challenge regarding the production of geospatial data by the users’ community with the aim of aggregating value to the maps.

The offer of stands at the fair of products and services of MundoGEO#Connect 2012 has been increased in 50%, and several companies have already made their sponsorship to the event official, such as Furtado Schmidt, which is a representative of Garmin brands in Brazil, Nikon and Spectra Precision; the group Santigo & Cintra, representative of Trimble, Topcon, Faro, Erdas, RapidEye and Navteq; Geoposition, representative of the brand Sokkia; Alezi Teodolini, representative of Astech; Engemap, which represents DigitalGlobe, among others.

The number of auditoriums for the activities of MundoGEO#Connect 2012 has been increased in 100% in relation to the previous event held this year. Several seminars are expected, as well as forums, mini-courses, workshops and parallel events turned to the applications of the geotechnologies in the areas of environment, public administration, geomarketing, mining, oil & gas, utilities, agrobusinesses, infrastructure, location services, among others.

MundoGEO#Connect 2012 expects to attract more than 10.000 professionals, being 4.000 as participants in the technical activities and visitors to the fair, plus 6.000 people connected to the event through the social nets and webinars, once about 10% of the event will be transmitted through the internet. The divulging of the event will be done through MundoGEO Portal and through the magazines InfoGEO and InfoGNSS, as well as through several other magazines and sites in Brazil and in other countries.

According to Emerson Zanon Granemann, director and publisher of MundoGEO, a special divulging will be made in the other countries of Latin America. The effective integration of the Latin American geo-information community will be very important for the exchange of experiences and search of solutions in common for one of the areas that has been growing the most economically and socially worldwide. In this scenery, the geo-technologies are important tools to subsidize all this transformation”, concludes Granemann.

Eduardo Freitas, technical coordinator of the seminars, reinforces that the model of interactive presentations of MundoGEO#Connect will be increased in next year’s event. We will provide an innovative format for the sharing of information between the specialists and the participants of the event, with more emphasis on the questions&answers” sessions, concludes Freitas.

 

MundoGEO#Connect 2011

The biggest event of the geotechnology sector of Latin America took place at Frei Caneca Convention Center, in São Paulo, from June 14 to June 16, 2011. The event was an accomplishment of MundoGEO and it counted on the international support of Directions Magazine, GIM International, V1 Magazine, Professional Surveyor and Geo Connexion.

MundoGEO#Connect 2011 gathered over 30 exhibitors in its fair, who represent the main world brands of the sector. More than 7.500 participants were connected to the event, being 2.700 connected to the technical activities and visitors to the fair and 5.000 through the social nets and webinars. The event had the national support of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the city hall of São Paulo, the company of Metropolitan Planning of São Paulo (Emplasa), Embrapa Monitoring through Satellite, besides the support from the International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensoring (ISPRS), Association of Technology and Geoespatial Information (Gita), among other institutions.

The participants’ evaluation in relation to the organization, content of the lectures and debates, as well as to the fair, got over 85% of approval. The interactivity concept in the program schedule of the seminars was one of the event’s highlights due to the fact that the specialists could present their opinions and share experiences in a casual atmosphere environment, allowing total interactivity with the participants.

 

On MundoGEO

MundoGEO, which promotes MundoGEO#Connect, has worked on the production of contents for printed and online media, fairs, seminars, courses and webinars on the geo-information area since 1998. It publishes two important magazines addressed to the sector: InfoGEO, on satellite images and Systems of Geographical Information (GIS); and InfoGNSS, which focus on surveying and cartography.
